Hi, I'm David Mack. In 2006, I decided to build my own Van's Aircraft RV-7 200+ mph two seat homebuilt aluminum airplane and this is a log of the experience.

Oil Cooler Upper Duct Sanding and Fitting (Firewall Forward)
1.5 Hours

Previous - Index

I spent a while trimming and sanding the flange and the rest of the upper duct.

Then I fit it in place and drilled it to the rear baffle. I think I'll use screws/nutplates to attach it here.

This whole thing came out really well. The fiberglass work won't win any awards, but it is strong and fits in the space very well.

I hope/expect I won't have any cooling issues with this larger oil cooler, so that is also good.
