Canopy Deck Drilling, Firewall Gusset (Forward Fuselage)
2.2 Hours

Previous - Index - Next

The first thing I did tonight was to clamp and drill the front canopy decks on both sides.

Then, I pulled off the front canopy deck and the side rail on the right side. I deburred and dimpled them and countersunk the longeron until my 3/32" countersink bit broke off in the very last hole. I'll wait to repeat this for the left side until I get a new one.

Then, I pulled out this firewall/longeron gusset and drilled holes in it per the plan.

Finally, I match drilled the right gusset to the longeron and firewall. It took a while because of the steel firewall bracket that sits under the longeron in this spot.
