A while ago, while I was looking things over on the wing, I noticed that one of the wing spar to rib rivets that sits under the fuel tank flange had pushed the flange of the rib outward. The gap was way too big for my comfort, so I started taking the fuel tank off. I managed to partially strip one of the screws out as I was removing it with the cordless drill and, for the longest time, couldn't figure out how to remove the screw without damaging the fuel tank or spar. Finally, tonight, I tried some advice I'd seen on the VAF forum and used a dremel tool to notch a cut in the head of the screw for a flat head screwdriver. After some fiddling, I finally got that bastard of a screw out. Then, I took the rest of the fuel tank screws and bolts out and removed the inboard top skin. I need to work on a way to keep the rib flange flush against the spar flange while I rivet it. Another day...
