Cabin Frame Roll Bar (Cabin Frame)

I started today by making a few more angles per the plans.

Then I started to mark these splice plates for rivet holes. These join the two halves of the roll bar together (see below).

Before drilling the holes in the splice plates, I got to studying the plans and looking at dimensions, so I clamped out the two halves of the roll bar to get measurements. My rollbar is at least 0.5" too wide at the base.

I puzzled over this for a while before noticing a notation on DWG 39 that instructs you to trim the channel pieces at the center join until they achieve the right width.
