I removed the outer layer of electrical tape and sanded the molding down to the height of the tape on the top and feathered into the metal on the bottom. There are a few spots where the epoxy/glass chipped away at the edge of the tape, unfortunately. So, I put some masking tape down and applied a strip of black tinted epoxy thick along the top to cover the chipped areas. Then, I brushed the rest of the molding with clear epoxy to fill pinholes. I then removed the masking tape while the epoxy was still wet. I'm sure this will be a pain to sand. I'm glad I'm not building a fiberglass plane.
