Today I worked on the wheel pant center lines again. I got this idea from another RV-7 builder on YouTube (link). I clamped the trailing edge of the pant between two straightedges to get the pant vertically aligned. Then I measured up from my flat workbench with another square a set distance from the table on both sides. I used that to mark a center line at the joint between the two halves. And then I used a laser line to connect the center at the front, joint line, and aft. I read some reports on VAF about people getting wear over time between the engine mount and zip ties from grit. I used a suggestion there and placed a layer of silicon fusion tape between the ties and the mount. I also applied a layer of UHMW tape over the electrical tape on the gear legs. I was pretty sure the fiberglass from the fairings was going to wear the tape down over time.
