Right Wheel Fairing (Landing Gear)
2.0 Hours

Today I really got to work on the right wheel fairing. I opened up the side of the fairing for the axle and brake line. I also significantly opened up the big bottom hole for the wheel.

I drilled the aft half of the fairing to the outboard bracket. Rather than drilling these from the outside, I just used a 90-degree drill bit and drilled them from inside. Easier than trying to match the existing holes.

Then after more careful measuring and alignment, I drilled both the aft and forward halves to the inboard bracket. The alignment seems close to perfection again.

The hard part--drilling--is done on both of these. I'm really pleased with how well the alignment turned out.

Now I need to open up the bottom holes (After some research on VAF, I'm going to aim for 3/4" clearance between the fairing and wheel). I also need to reinforce the insides of the fairings wherever there will be a screw and sand the outside joint. I also need to sand/prime the areas where I scuffed the exterior so I could see for drilling.
