Firewall Forward Electrical (Electrical)
1.5 Hours

Previous - Index - Next

I got a shipment from B&C including my main alternator and some other miscellaneous stuff. I installed the "forest of tabs" for grounding things on the inside of the firewall. I added an AN3 bolt on the far side since it's so long.

Here's the negative battery cable bolted to the forward side of the large bolt.

And here's the hot battery cable bolted to the input side of the battery solenoid. I don't actually have a battery to connect these to yet.

Then I installed these two ANL fuse holders for the alternator outputs. I used screws on the front and lock nuts on the back.

And here they are with the fuses installed and some copper bar bent and drilled to connect the alternator outputs to the battery. At some point the plane's main bus will connect somewhere in here, too.

I may still take these off and put some heat shrink around them just to minimize the amount of exposed copper. I will also add the G3X shunt between the main alternator and the 60A ANL fuse. The Monkworkz backup alternator has its own built-in shunt.
