Engine Prep, Hanging (Firewall Forward)

I installed the oil pressure restrictor fitting. A hose will connect this to the pressure manifold where the sensor will live.

I installed the connector for oil coming back from the cooler.

And the fitting for oil going to the cooler...this was kind of a pain to get to.

I installed the fitting for manifold pressure out from cylinder #3. This will go to the manifold pressure sensor and the two PMAGs.

Then I cut a bunch of safety wire off of the prop governor and installed the prop cable bracket. I also "re-clocked" the position of the arm on the governor to match where the cable will come from.

I re-did all of the safety wire...this is really my first time doing this, so it took a little bit of practice. And then I installed the governor on the engine.

Then I fought with getting the engine mounted for quite a while. I followed the Van's instructions which say to do the bottom bolts first. Those went in easily, but I could not then get the upper bolts in. Finally, I changed strategy, took the bottom bolts out, installed the top, and then successfully got the bottoms in. It was much easier this way. This is done!

Unfortunately, I dented the aft pushrod shroud on the #4 cylinder while tightening the upper left engine mount bolt. I asked about this on VAF and the consensus seems to be to leave it be.

With the engine on the front, the tail got very light, so I put a big back of rocks back there to weigh it down.

I installed the throttle cable bracket and safety wired the bolts.

I also installed the mixture cable bracket, but didn't take a picture.

Then I started working on the airflow performance parts. This is a bracket to take the motion from the mixture cable on the left side across to the ride side of the servo where the input is.

Then, I bolted in the fuel servo.

I taped over the inlet to keep air out of the engine.
