Oil Cooler Duct Valve, More Baffle Install (Firewall Forward)
5.5 Hours

Previous - Index - Next

Today I installed a butterfly valve in the oil cooler diffuser so I can control the amount of air flowing to the oil cooler in flight. I bought a pre-made butterfly valve assembly from ACS and disassembled the valve from the duct. I then installed it in my fiberglass assembly and riveted the flapper back together.

It came out very nicely.

Then I riveted the angles for the oil cooler mount to the firewall. I had to unbolt the rudder pedals and move them out of the way to get the rivet gun in there.

Then I worked on the baffles some more--riveting things together and final installing the sections to the engine with lock washers and nuts. Here is the left front section.

The right front section, which I also then riveted to the inlet floor.

I also completed the left rear section, but didn't take a picture of that.
