Today I got that final bolt tightened on the backup alternator. I bought a spare 7/16" crescent wrench from Home Depot and then bent it with my vice so I could get it on the nut and actually turn it. In the end, it wasn't terrible. Then, I finished routing the ignition wires and wired the backup alternator. Then I spent quite a while thinking about how I want to do firewall penetrations. I had planned to just use plastic grommets covered with fire resistant silicon sealant, as the plans have it. But really, a fire in the engine compartment would be bad and I want to resist intrusion into the passenger compartment as long as possible. I removed the throttle control cable from the engine, which included undoing all of the firesleeve I had wrapped around it. Still not sure what I am going to use...
